Six commitments, one Ward 5.

Growth is not measured only by the number of homes we build, but by the strength of the community we create. My vision is a Ward 5 where young families, seniors, and newcomers alike can put down roots and thrive.

.01

Balanced Growth & Complete Communities

New development should arrive with the parks, schools, and transit capacity to support it — not years behind.

In Detail

Growth should work for residents — not the other way around. Ward 5 is one of Markham’s fastest-growing communities. New homes and businesses are welcome, but development must be matched with the infrastructure and services residents need.

Priorities

  • Plan growth responsibly
  • Improve roads and transportation
  • Expand parks and public spaces
  • Support schools, libraries and recreation facilities
  • Ensure infrastructure keeps pace with development
  • Protect neighbourhood character

Growth should improve our quality of life — not compromise it.

.02

Strong Neighbourhoods & Connected Communities

Investing in community centres, local gathering spaces, and programs that bring neighbours together.

In Detail

A neighbourhood becomes a community when people know one another. Ward 5 is home to families from many cultures and backgrounds. We should create more opportunities for neighbours to connect, volunteer, celebrate and support one another.

Priorities

  • Support community events
  • Encourage neighbourhood associations
  • Expand programs for youth and seniors
  • Strengthen partnerships with local organizations
  • Create welcoming public spaces
  • Celebrate our diversity

A connected community is a stronger community.

.03

Safe Streets & Reliable City Services

Safer crossings, well-maintained roads, and city services residents can count on every season.

In Detail

Residents deserve city services they can count on. Whether it’s repairing roads, clearing snow, maintaining parks or improving traffic safety, residents expect City Hall to deliver quality services efficiently and fairly.

Priorities

  • Support community events
  • Encourage neighbourhood associations
  • Expand programs for youth and seniors
  • Strengthen partnerships with local organizations
  • Create welcoming public spaces
  • Celebrate our diversity

A connected community is a stronger community.

.04

Living in Harmony with Nature

Protecting green space, ravines, and tree canopy as Ward 5 continues to grow.

In Detail

A growing city can also protect the environment. Recent wildlife incidents remind us that as communities expand, we share our environment with wildlife. The solution is not conflict—it is thoughtful planning, education and responsible coexistence. Ward 5 is fortunate to have beautiful natural spaces, parks and trails. We must protect them while ensuring residents feel safe.

Priorities

  • Improve wildlife education
  • Strengthen wildlife response coordination
  • Protect natural habitats
  • Enhance trail safety
  • Support tree planting and green spaces
  • Promote sustainable neighbourhoods

A healthy environment creates a healthier community. This pillar is quite distinctive — few municipal candidates talk about coexistence with wildlife, yet it resonates with residents who have recently seen coyotes and other wildlife in Markham.

.05

Connected Communities, Shared Future

Better transit links across Ward 5 and the wider region, so opportunity isn’t limited by geography.

In Detail

Ward boundaries define representation, but they should never limit cooperation. Many of the challenges we face—from transportation and environmental protection to stormwater management and public safety—extend beyond a single neighbourhood. I will work with fellow councillors, regional partners and our community to find practical solutions that benefit Ward 5 while strengthening Markham as a whole.

Strong communities are built through collaboration, not competition.

.06

Open, Transparent & Accessible Government

Decisions explained in plain language, and a councillor’s office that’s genuinely easy to reach.

In Detail

City Hall should work with residents—not just for residents. Good decisions begin with listening. My years as a journalist and radio host have taught me that every voice matters. I want to bring that same commitment to City Hall by making municipal government more open, accessible and accountable.

Priorities

  • Listen before making decisions
  • Regular community meetings
  • Clear communication
  • Easy access to information
  • Timely responses to residents
  • Transparent decision-making

Your Voice. My Commitment.
